Internet Connection Alert: Monitor Your Internet Connection Status

Internet Connection Alert is a free Android app developed by Blue Spectrum that allows you to monitor your internet connection status. It generates an audible alert when the connection is lost or found, and creates a connection event log in a public folder. The app is useful for monitoring your home internet connection, getting notifications, and creating a csv file for internet connection dropouts.

The app creates an Android Test Service that runs continuously, even if the app is closed. The app attempts to open a connection to the internet at a scheduled interval, ranging from 1 to 60 minutes, with 5 and 10-second intervals for short 5-minute tests. However, some newer phones may go into "doze" mode when the phone is locked, which may prevent the app from waking and testing at every specified interval.

It is important to disable battery optimization by going to Settings->ThisApp->Battery->Optimize battery->All->ThisApp and unchecking it. This allows the app to wake up consistently and test the connection when not charging. The app requests access to files and folders to create and access a public folder for the log file and help files. It also optionally requires access to device location to access the WiFi SSID (name) for the "Alert for Lost WiFi Connection" option.
